Bowen Li

Born in 2010, Bowen is a 12-year-old violinist located in Calgary, Canada. Bowen started piano at

age of 5 with Ting Feng and violin at age of 8 in Cedar Falls, Iowa, USA. After moving to Calgary in

2019, he was accepted as a senior student in the Academy for Young Artists at Mount Royal

University. Bowen studied with William van der Sloot from 2020-2022. Currently he studies with

Maria van der Sloot.

Bowen has achieved success over his 5 years of violin study. He has respectably won 1st prize; 3rd

prize and 1st prize at the Canadian Music Competition from 2021 to 2023.

Throughout his musical years, Bowen has taken classes and masterclasses with many distinguished

professors and musicians like Peter Li, Ian Swensen, Gwen Hoebig, and many more. As a part of

the Academy and APP Program in MRU, Bowen also regularly rehearses chamber and performs for

his peers, exploring various genres of music and ensembles. Aside from violin, he is also very

talented in academics and sports like skiing.
