Catherine Sun

Born in 2004, Catherine Sun is a Calgary-based musician who started her journey with music at the age of 4. Over the course of her 16-year journey with piano, she has had numerous successes at local, provincial, and national wide competitions. Notably, she placed first in her age category at the Canadian Music Competition back in 2018 and placed fifth overall in the Junior Category at the Canadian Chopin Competition in 2019. She also consistently placed first provincially, earning numerous scholarships and plaques. Further, Catherine has had the opportunity to learn from numerous pedagogues, including but not limited to Krzysztof Jablonski, Sasha Starcevich, Ian Parker, and Kathy Dornian. Catherine received her ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music back in 2017. While she chose not to pursue music at the university level, she is involved with the music scene at the University of Toronto, having performed at open mics and events when she has had the time.
