Anna Stube
Music has been a part of 14-year-old Anna`s life for as long as she can remember. Anna began playing the violin at the age of five, around the same time that her family moved to Canada from Latvia. She took violin lessons with Maria Meadlow from 2011 and since 2014 she has been studying violin with professor William Van der Sloot at the Mount Royal University Conservatory in Calgary, where she recently joined the Advanced Performance Program as well. As part of the program, she has played for internationally acclaimed guest artists including Andres Cardenes, Pinchas Zukerman, Tadeusz Gadzina, Ian Swensen, Gerardo Ribeiro, Roberto Diaz, James Ehnes, Yehonatan Berick, Kronos Quartet, Glen Montgomery, Gwen Hoebig, Callidore String Quartet, and many more. In 2017 Anna as a part of “Lincoln Park String Quartet” alongside fellow students had the opportunity to play together with the “Kronos Quartet” and “The Calidore String Quartet”.
Anna has won numerous awards from Canada`s Royal Conservatory of Music, Calgary Performing Arts Festival and Canadian Music Competition (CMC), including winning the Grand Prize of CMC 2018 and 2019 in the 11 to 14 year category, which resulted in a performance with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in June 2019 at the Gala concert. Anna has participated in full scholarship summer music programs such as the “Young Artist Program” (Ottawa) and “Orford Music Academy” (Orford, Quebec). Anna was also part of the “Morningside Music Bridge (MMB)” program for 2 years now, first in Boston, the Chopin Academy in Warsaw, Poland, and at NEC in Boston again last summer, where she was a finalist of the concerto competition there.
Anna was given the opportunity to perform several concerts in Israel with her piano trio “Trio Savyon”(Henry From – pianist from Vancouver, Nahar Eliaz – cellist frm Israel) performing in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ashdod and Nazareth as a promotional tour for the “MMB ”program, and in 2018 a private recital for the Mozart Patron Group of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) solo.
Anna has also performed as a soloist with “Calgary Civic Symphony” and the “Conservatory Sinfonia”. Recently in November Anna was the 1st prize winner in Category B of the OSM (Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal) competition in Montreal, Quebec. Part of the prize was a full scholarship to McGill University and an award for 2 weeks at the Domaine Forget music program 2020.
When she isn’t practicing music, Anna loves learning, workouts at the gym, and ballet.
