Hannah Hodjati
Born in 2008, Hannah Hodjati is a Calgarian pianist who fell in love with her instrument at the age of five. Hannah’s mission statement is to spread the love of music by touching the souls of listeners and passing the flame to future generations of artists.
Hannah is currently in the Academy Program for Young Artists at Mount Royal University, where she studies with Susanne Ruberg-Gordon. She has taken part in masterclasses from renowned artists including James Anagnoson, Martín García García, and Rachel Naomi Kudo. With the guidance of brilliant minds such as these, Hannah has become an adept soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist. Last year, Hannah was a finalist of the IPPA Conero International Piano Competition. Prior, she won several awards in the Calgary Performing Arts Festival. She was also the 2023 recipient of the Marissa Staddon Memorial Scholarship at Cassa Piano. Hannah has obtained First Class Honours with Distinction in numerous RCM examinations, the most recent being Level 10 Piano.
Hannah broadens her musical horizons however she can in addition to piano. She recently made her debut as a composer at the Valhalla Summer School of Music, where her Trio Fantasia, op. 3 was enthusiastically received. Hannah is also the first chair trombonist in her school wind ensemble and implements her ensemble knowledge in her soloistic endeavours. As well, Hannah spreads her passion for music as a piano and violin teacher; her students have been awarded First Class Honours with Distinction in their own RCM examinations.
Outside of music, Hannah enjoys creative writing and competitive figure skating. She also has a deep love for academics and takes courses in the French Immersion IB program at Western Canada High School.
