Julia Jablonska
Julia was born in 2006 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and her passion is singing. She was raised in a house where she was surrounded by music. Her first teacher was her father, Prof. Dr. Hab. Krzysztof Jabłoński, a classical pianist. She started exploring music just when she was about three-years-old. Traveling with her parents to multiple destinations in the world, attending her father’s performances and rehearsals, witnessing endless hours of practicing, soaked her with music. However, not being forced to select any particular instrument or genre, her music interests were always evolving.
Over numerous years, she has played various instruments, including violin, flute, recorder, piano, and guitar. For the violin, she took lessons from William van der Sloot at Mount Royal University, The Conservatory in Calgary (currently Assistant Teaching Professor at the Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh). At the same time, she learned from Prof. Tadeusz Gadzina from the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland. All together, she played the violin for three years. For flute, she studied with Sarah (Gieck) MacDonald, MMus., who is also the flutist of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. Julia played several recitals for Green Banana Flute Studios and placed first in the 1st - 2nd-grade category at CPAF in 2018. She learned to play piano from her father and started playing guitar in 2019 to the present year. Her guitar teacher is Spencer David-Tiede.
Sometime during the last couple of years, a strong passion for dancing and singing was born. After taking dance classes at the Alive Danceworks, she entirely focused on developing her singing and songwriting skills. Julia now sings and writes her songs, and she covers popular songs with guitar or piano. She also spends a lot of her time learning about DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations). Her main genre interest is Pop Music, though she has also sung many others, including dramatic and alternative.
Besides playing, Julia also loves helping out with festivals and music performances, like how she volunteered at the Krzyzowa Music Festival, Poland, in 2016. She has also won Honour Roll with Distinction certificates two consecutive years (2018-2020) in school and enjoys literature and scientific studies.
