Melissa Xiao

Born in 2006, Melissa Xiao began her piano studies under Linh Nguyen and became a student of Krzysztof Jablonski in 2019. Melissa has also taken masterclasses with notable pianists such as Konstantin Shamray, Bruce Anderson, and Sayá Sangidorj. In 2020, she got the Associate Diploma of the Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) in Piano Performance c/w First Class Honors.

Every year, Melissa attends the Calgary Performing Arts Festival, where she has won many First and Second Prizes for her age group. In 2018, Melissa won Second Prize at the XIII Huesca International Piano Competition in Spain. In 2019, she placed 5th in the Canadian Music Competition. She has also received Silver Award and Best Baroque Performance Award at the first Steinway Canada Young Artist Piano Competition in Zon IV in 2020.

Outside of piano, Melissa has played competitive volleyball since she was 13. She also competes in math competitions, having qualified for the AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Examination) in 2021.
